Is it possible to apply permissions to a folder and all its sub folders?

Yes, with Folder Permissions Manager you can apply permissions to any mailbox folder or any public folder and all of its sub folders.

Besides replacing permissions are there any other ways to apply permissions?

Yes, this is one of the many unique features of this solution. You can apply permissions to any address book, group, mailbox or folder in the following ways:

  • Append permissions, leaving any existing permissions as they are
  • Overwrite existing permissions, and remove any extra permissions
  • Overwrite existing permissions, but leave any extra permissions
  • Remove specified permissions
  • Update existing permissions, but without creating new permissions

Additionally, you can specify to also set permissions on all sub folders, or sub folders by type, such as Inbox, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and Notes.

Can I create permissions templates that can easily be reapplied to objects now and later?

Yes, you can create a virtually unlimited set of permissions templates, which you can apply and reapply to different objects at any time. Since Exchange and Outlook does not allow specifying default permissions for new folders that are created by administrators or users, this feature is very powerful. Templates can be applied from time to time to update any new folders with the desired permissions.

What permissions are required to review permissions on mailbox folders and public folders?

You can review permissions on any mailbox folder without having any special permissions. You can review permissions on any public folder that have permissions to access.

What permissions are required to update permissions on mailbox folders and public folders?

You need to have special permissions to update permissions on other mailbox folders than your own. These are described in the user's guide. You can update permissions on your own mailbox folders without having any special permissions. You need to have special permissions to update permissions on public folders that you are not the owner of.

Is it possible to generate reports of permissions on mailbox folders and public folders?

Yes, you can export a report of the currently assigned permissions on all folders in any type of object (address book, group, mailbox or public folder) to a comma-separated file or directly to an Excel sheet.
